Island-wide Security Force Headquarters in Kilinochchi, Mullaittivu, Jaffna, Wanni, East, West and Central, in parallel with the main ceremony at the Army Headquarters, began their first working day on January 01 in their respective Headquarters, Divisions, Brigades, Units and all formations, conducting separate formal ceremonies.
Hoisting the National flag, followed by SFHQ flags and all formation flags at the beginning of the ceremonies kicked off the day’s event. One minute observance of silence to remember fallen War Heroes and the reading of the State Service Commitment pledge was then followed.
The New Year - 2015 message of Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army was afterwards presented to the troops in accordance with the formalities.
Events were conducted under the guidance of Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN), Major General Jagath Dias, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Mullattivu (SFHQ–MLT), Major General Jagath Alwis, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J), Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W), Major General Lal Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E), Major General Mano Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-C) and Major General U.A.B Medawela, Commander, Security Force Headquarters-West (SFHQ-West) at respective locations.
Meanwhile, Commander SFHQ-MLT, together with senior officers visited the Mullattivu General Hospital and distributed some gift parcels among soldiers receiving treatment and shared seasonal compliments with them.
Later, Commander SFHQ - MLT opened the newly constructed bakery building at the same SFHQ at the auspicious minute.
Similarly, Commander, SFHQ- KLN visited the Army Base Hospital at Kilinochchi after the programmes at their Headquarters and distributed gift parcels among soldiers under treatment.
Commander, SFHQ-KLN on the same day gave away three bicycles among school students during a brief event, organized by the troops of same SFHQ at the Harmony Centre, Kilinochchi.
The same SFHQ organized a Kovil Pooja at the Amman Kovil, Iranamadu to bless the troops.
In the meantime Commander, SFHQ- KLN and Commander SFHQ - MLT distributed permanent appointment letters among the civil staff, serving under their SFHQs on casual basis as per the directives, given by the Budget 2015 proposals.
