A special all-night "Pirith" chanting was organized at the Army Headquarters under the guidance of the Army Commander General Sarath Fonseka Friday (19) evening to mark one month completion of the victory over terrorism.
The chanting was also designed to invoke blessings on War Heroes and transfer merits to those who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the country.
His Excellency the President Mahinda Rajapaksa made a surprise visit to the chanting as the special guest while the chanting was on.
Ven. Welamitiyawe Kusaladamma Nayake Thero conducted the 'Anushasana' and recalled memories of War Heroes.
