Under the guidance of the Commander, Security Forces Kilinochchi Major General Sampath Kotuwegoda in collaboration with Access Engineering PLC, the Sri Lanka Artillery's 8th Medium Regiment organized planting of saplings around the banks of the Iranamadu reservoir on 01 January 2021 to mark the 27th Anniversary of the Regiment.
In line with the Army Commander's 'Thuru Mithuru Nawa Ratak' vision, more than 7500 saplings of rare species such as Maila, Fishing Rod, Damba, Cashew, Tamarind, Kumbuk, Mango, Ironwood, Thimbiri and Java Plum were distributed to all Military establishments under command to SFHQ KLN on the same occasion after planting a large number of those saplings around the tank bund by all invitees.
Commander, Security Forces- Kilinochchi graced the occasion as the Chief Guest on the invitation of the Commanding Officer of 8 SLA Lieutenant Colonel S Darmarathne.
