7 SLSC Unit Hosts New Chief of Staff in Special Felicitation

7 Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps HQ at Diyatalawa hosted a reception for the recently-appointed Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Signal Corps Major General Prabath Dematanpitiya when he arrived there on 20 December 2020. Commanding Officer 7th Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps, Lieutenant Colonel M. R Hameem warmly welcomed the Chief Guest, together with Colonel Asoka Gunasekara, Centre Commandant, Colonel Dilantha Fernando and the Deputy Center Commandant at the main entrance. A ceremonial Guard Turnout was presented to the Chief Guest at the entrance and greeted him in accordance with military formalities.

The Commanding Officer conducted a comprehensive unit briefing and enlightened the Chief Guest on the role and tasks of the Unit in recent times.

Thereafter, the visiting Chief of Staff addressed the troops and participated in a welfare project where Chairperson of the Signal Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Ramani Dematanpitiya and other members of the Signal Seva Vanitha Unit joined a book distribution programme that also coincided with the World Children’s’ day with the intention of promoting the habit of reading among children.

Major General Adeepa Thilakarathne, Chief Signal Officer and Colonel G.C.V Fernando, Commanding Officer Administration Wing at Sri Lanka Military Academy also participated in this event.

During the All Rank tea, Major General Prabath Dematanpitiya spared his time to share a few thoughts with Officers and Other Ranks of the unit and then he left memories by planting an Ironwood sapling in front of the Parade Ground.

Before concluding the day’s itinerary, Chief of Staff and the Colonel Commandant of Corps of Signals left a couple of thoughts and compliments in the Visitors’ Book and sat together for lunch with all Officers at the Officers’ Mess before the culmination of the day's proceedings.
