The sixth ‘Deyata Kirula’ National Development Exhibition - 2012 at Oyamaduwa, Anuradhapura that mirrors Sri Lanka’s march to development and prosperity after eradicating terrorism, was ceremonially declared open Saturday (3) evening by HE the President Mahinda Rajapaksa, the architect of the mammoth spectacle.
The government has spent over Rs 21,000 million for development projects launched in Anuradhapura, parallel to the Exhibition including mega road infrastructure work, electricity generation projects, drinking water schemes, new cultivation projects, etc. The exhibition will continue until February 10.
Several other projects including the renovation of irrigation tanks and reservoirs, roadways, electricity, hospitals and other common facilities were completed before this evening’s ceremonial opening of the grand exhibition (4).
President Mahinda Rajapaksa, accompanied by a host of Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Governors, Chief Ministers, Secretaries, Chief of Defence Staff, Tri-Service Commanders, Inspector General of the Police, Director General Civil Defence Force and other invitees toured round the exhibition site and saw for themselves over 600 exhibition stalls that had been put up for display to the public.
President Rajapaksa like on previous occasions made a point to visit tri-service and Police exhibition stalls mingling with members of the public.
