66 Division Volleyball & Squash Players Emerge Champions in Tournament

The finals of the Inter Division Squash and Volleyball Tournaments under the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) got underway at SFHQ-MLT premises on 19 February 2022 after tournament rounds were held at respective Division and Brigade levels in the past two weeks.

The final game of the Inter Division Squash Tournament was held between the 64 Division Team and the 66 Division Team. Giving a tough challenge, the 66 Division Team emerged champions. The General Officer Commanding of the 64 Division, Major General Upul Weerakoone gave away trophies and certificates to both winners and runners up in the Inter Division Squash Tournament.

The Runner-up in the Inter Division Volleyball Tournament received their medals and certificates from the General Officer Commanding of the 57 Division, Major General Priyantha Jayawardena.

Meanwhile, the finals of the Inter Division Squash Tournament was held between the 64 Division Team and the 66 Division Team and the 66 Division Team grabbed the Championship in Squash too.

Major General Anil Ilangakoon, Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Corps of Military Police (SLCMP) and Commander, Forward Maintenance Area (FMA) - Mullaittivu was instrumental in organizing both tournaments and the Commander, Security Forces - Mullaittivu, Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe as the Chief Guest during the awarding ceremony. The trophy for the Best Setter of the Inter Division Volleyball Tournament was won by Sergeant M. Jayasinghe of the 66 Division and the trophy for the Best Attacker of the Inter Division Volleyball Tournament was clinched by Lance Corporal S. Nilanka of the 66 Division.

Private H.A.S.S Perera of the 66 Division won the trophy as the Best Player of the Inter Division Volleyball Tournament. The Championship Trophy of the Inter Division Volleyball Tournament was received by the Captain of the Volleyball Team of the 66 Division, Sergeant Q. Jayasinghe.
