The awarding ceremony of the annual sports festival of the 65 Division for the year 2019 got underway recently at the 65 Division playground.
During the span of one year, eight teams representing 65 Division HQ, 653 Brigade HQ, 10 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI), 19 SLLI, 17 (Volunteer) SLLI, 11 (Volunteer) Gajaba Regiment (GR), 20 (Volunteer) Vijayabhahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) and 7 Sri Lanka National Guards (SLNG) troops competed in Cricket, Volleyball, Football, Basketball, Elle, Badminton and Tug of War before they reached the finals.
10 SLLI of the 653 Brigade emerged as the Best Sports Battalion by securing the championships in Cricket, Tug of war and by being the runners-up in Badminton, Elle and Basketball.
10 SLLI sportsmen gained 95 marks in total whilst 11 (Volunteer) GR and 20 (Volunteer) VIR were equally placed as co-runners-up with 65 marks each team.
