Troops serving the 64 Infantry Division, Oddusudan together with civilians in the area, marked the commemoration of Thai Pongal day in a special ceremony on Monday (16 January).
The special ceremony at Kachchilmadu Kovil, organized with a view to promoting reconciliation, multi cultural and multi ethnic co-existence saw donation of 25 bags of cement made to the development of the Kovil premises.
The event, attended by 64 Division General Officer Commanding, Mullaittivu District Secretary, Additional District Secretary, Oddusudan Additional Secretary, invoked blessings on all those who attended the offerings on that day. Attendees shared sweetmeats with all those who were participating.
