A joint sponsorship provided by Mrs Harshani Gunasekara, Mr Chithrasiri, Mr Hasitha Samarasinghe, Mrs Mahesha Samarasinghe, Mrs Mekala Rodrigo, Mr Prasad Lokubalasooriya, all of them from Gampaha enabled 552 Brigade troops of the 55 Division of the Security Force HQ - Jaffna to give away free packs of school accessories, dry rations and meal packets to selected 63 school students and 12 teachers in Tharmakerny Tamil School and Muhamalai RCTM School in Pallai, Jaffna on Monday (17).
The conceptual guidance of the General Officer Commanding, 55 Division, Major General Prasanna Gunaratne encouraged Brigadier Wijayanath Jayaweera Commander, 552 Brigade to organize the distribution project, aiming the most deserving. Each pack, worth Rs 2,500 inclusive those above-mentioned items was distributed during the arrangement by the representatives of those donors and the 552 Brigade Commander who attended as the Chief Guest.
The Commanding Officer, 1 Mechanized Infantry Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel Rohana Thilakaratne, Commanding Officer, 23 Gemunu Watch, Major Rukmal Rathnayake and the Civil Affairs Officer of the 552 Brigade, Major Ruwan Dehigala provided all assistance to make this community-oriented project.
