621 Brigade troops considering the need to elevate educational standards of Grade 5 students, resident in the general area of Sampathnuwara took steps to distribute a large stock of model examination papers among students of low-income group families on Wednesday (26).
At the request of the Brigade Commander of the 621 Brigade and the General Officer Commanding, 62 Division, members of the alumni association of the University of Sri Jayawardenepura and Old Boys’ Association of Colombo Royal College footed the cost of those question papers.
Accordingly, the students at Sampathnuwara National School received the stock of aforesaid model papers that would be distributed among 650 Grade 5 scholarship candidates in 21 schools in the area.
The distribution programme was organized on the directions and instructions of Major General Sujeewa Hettiarachchi, General Officer Commanding, 62 Division. 621 Brigade Commander, Commanding Officers and Senior Officers attended the inaugural distribution.
The Commanding Officer of the 14 (V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry gave his maximum support to the project.
