62 Division Provides Water &;amp; Coordinates Medical Assistance

Troops of 62 Division serving under the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) during past two days (Sept 20-21) conducted several community-oriented projects for the benefit of civilians in areas, served by them on the directions of the General Officer Commanding, 62 Division.
 
On Saturday (20), troops organized the donation of two wheelchairs, received from Mr P. Senevirathne, a donor coordinated by the Army to Mr P.G Harsha of Nikawewa and Ms Geetha Ranjani of Balayayawewa, both suffering from physical disabilities but were not financially sound to buy wheelchairs for themselves.
 
62 Division initiated possibilities for getting those two wheelchairs, considering their plight and made arrangements for their donation.
 
On Sunday (21) 62 Division troops went on distributing more than 4700 drinking water bottles among drought-affected people in Padaviya area, following sponsorship, provided by ‘Samarasinghe Group’ at Marawila. On the same day, troops organized a Kidney Care Medical Clinic in the general areas of Mahasenpura, Mailankulama and Senasiligama in order to provide medical assistance to patients, affected by chronic kidney ailments in the Wanni.
 
A medical team from Padaviya Hospital conducted the clinics in these three places and inaugural occasions were attended by Brigadier K.G.D Perera, General Officer Commanding, 62 Division and several other senior officers.
 
On the same day another group of troops of the 62 Division with the sponsorship received from the same donor, ‘Samarasinghe Group’ at Marawila distributed more than 1500 water bottles among civilians of 340 families in Veheratenna, Kambiliwewa, Kohombagaswewa, Koonwewa and Veherawewa villages.
 
On the same day, Dr Chanod and his team from Padaviya Hospital provided medical consultations to needy civilians in above-mentioned villages as a result of arrangements made by the 62 Division.
