Multi-religious ceremonies that got underway separately at the sacred Anuradapura Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi, beginning early September, Catholic prayers at Madu Church, Hindu religious observances at Pudikudiyrippu Kovil, and finally the Islamic prayers at Mohideen Jumma Mosque respectively, invoked blessings on the 4th anniversary of Vavuniya-based 62 Division of the Security Force Headquarters Wanni (SFHQ -W).
The programmes that continued for a week were organized on the directions of Brigadier K.G.D Perera, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 62 Division.
The climax of the anniversary programmes reached on the anniversary day proper Wednesday (10) when the troops presented a Guard Turn Out to the GOC, followed by a tree planting ceremony, a troop address and an all rank tea party. A fellow-lunch the same day culminated the programmes.
