Army troops of the 613 Brigade of the 61 Brigade under the Security Force Headquarters -West positively responding to an urgent appeal of Adapana Hospital authorities in Kamburupitiya, Matara facilitated the movement of bad weather-affected hospital staff and relatives of patients visiting the hospital.
Several locations along the Kamburupitiya -Mulatiyana main road remained flooded due to heavy rains for a few days disrupting the movement of health workers to the hospital due to lack of transport and vehicle facilities, prompting Director at Aadapana Government Hospital in Kamburupitiya to turn to Colonel Indika Jayaweera, 613 Brigade Commander for transport assistance through Army trucks, etc.
Troops promptly pledged their support and transported hospital staff and relatives of patients visiting their sick ones lying in the hospital for treatment for more than three days (29-31 July) until flood waters receded.
