Troops of 613 Brigade under command to the 61 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - West on account of the Thrice Blessed Vesak Day took an initiative to give away more than 600 cooked meal packets to the civilians in the general area of Kamburupitiya on Vesak Day (15).
Army troops with a heart pocketed out their own resources for preparation of those lunch packets which were distributed by Army troops after taking those meal packets to their doorsteps.
The community project that goes hand in hand with the ‘Army Way Forward Strategy 2020 - 2025’ of General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army was made possible with guidelines given by the 61 Division’s General Officer Commanding and the active participation of Brigadier Upul Kodithuwakku, Commander 613 Brigade with the blessings of the Security Force Headquarters - West.
The beneficiaries were selected of the basis of their living conditions and the number of family members, who have been affected due to economic constraints.
