Parentless children living in 611 Brigade area in Madu under 61 Division Headquarters are to be given special assistance for studies under a new scholarship scheme.
Donors, Ms Tharanga Baddegama, Mr Susantha Meegalla and Mr Chaminda Baddegama at the request of Brigadier, K.G.D Perera, Commander, 611 Brigade have come forward to offer Rs 1000/= each monthly to three children who are without their parents but still clever at school studies.
Award of those scholarships was recently made during a brief ceremony, held at 611 Brigade Headquarters with the participation of the donors, those beneficiaries, guardians, teachers and several other civilians.
