A combined Thalagala Sri Siddhartha Foundation, chaired by Ven Talagala Sri Sumanaratana Thero and the Shasanarakshaka Board in Kalutara charity organizations extended their hand of assistance to under-privileged low-income group of families in Sooriyawewa area by way of providing dry ration packs, each valued at Rs 1500.00 to more than 600 beneficiaries on Monday (30).
Major General Lanka Amarapala, General Officer Commanding of the 12 Division initiated and coordinated the project after realizing the need of the poor communities in the area. Accordingly, each ration pack contained 2.8 kg of rice, 1 kg of dhal, 1 kg of sugar and two soya meat packets.
The Assistant Divisional Secretary of Sooriyawewa, General Officer Commanding of 12 Division, Senior Officers and Other Ranks of the 12 Division, Government Medical Officer (GMO) at the General Hospital in Sooriyawewa, Officer in Command of the Sooriyawewa Police Station and nearly 600 beneficiaries participated in the distribution programme.
