59 Division Conducts Multi-Religious Observances

Troops serving the 59 Division in Welioya under the Security Forces Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) organized a series of religious ceremonies to invoke blessings on HE the President on his birthday the anniversary of assumption of the Presidential office and the country at large.

An all-night Pirith chanting ceremony, followed by an alms-giving to members of the Maha Sangha at 59 Division Headquarters on Wednesday (14), and separate religious observances during November 11 - 12 at Alampil Roman Catholic church, Thanniuththu mosque and Wattappalai Kannai Amman Hindu kovil respectively marked the event with the participation of a large gathering of both officers and other ranks.

Lieutenant General (Retd) Rohan Daluwatte, former Commander of the Army, Major General L.B.R Mark, Commander, SFHQ-MLT, Brigadier P.R.H Dias, General Officer Commanding, 59 Division, District Secretary for Mullaittivu, Divisional Secretaries at provincial level, state officials and civilians in the area took part in those separate religious events.
