The Army's humanitarian reach to the underprivileged sections of society saw one more project launched in Malayalapuram in Kilinochchi on Friday (20) where relief dry rations were distributed.
9 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment troops of the 573 Brigade of the 57 Division under command to the Security Force Headquarters-Mullaittivu coordinated and organized the distribution of 50 dry ration packs, each worth Rs 2500/= among the most deserving families in the area, served by troops of the 573 Brigade.
At the invitation of Brigadier Ramith Prasanna, Commander 573 Brigade, Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe, Commander, Security Forces-Mullaittivu graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
South-based Mrs Chandrashan Kawisha, Mrs Kawisha Weerakoon and Mrs Yamuna Dissanayake due to Army initiatives provided the financial contribution for this community gesture after inviting all of them to the 9 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment camp premises. Each pack consisted of rice, dhal, chilli powder, potatoes, cereals, etc.
The General Officer Commanding, 57 Division, Brigade commanders of 571,572 and 573 Brigades, senior Officers and Other Ranks participated in the event.
