Troops of the 571 Brigade considering possibilities for income generating and nutrition factors released 20,000 fish fingerlings to the Dryarukulam Tank in Kilinochchi on Monday (29).
Major General Harendra Ranasinghe, Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi gave his blessings for the project as it would help generate income for underprivileged fishing families as well as families suffering malnutrition and lack of nutrients.
On the guidelines given by the Commander, 571 Brigade, Brigadier Dammika Welagedara, troops joined the project in co-operation with National Aquaculture Development Authority (NAQDA) Kilinochchi Branch. More than twenty fishing families in Maruthunagar Grama Niladari Division are benefited due to this project.
