16 School Cricket Teams, 18 Cricket Club Teams and 11 School Netball Teams in Kilinochchi vied for supremacy when 57 Division Headquarters, Kilinochchi organized a Cricket and Netball Tournament among students and Sports Club members.
The Finals of Cricket and Netball took place at Kilinochchi public grounds with the participation of Kilinochchi Central College Cricket team and Jayanthinagar Hindu Maha Vidyala Cricket team. Pudiyasooriyan Sports Club competed against Krishnabharathi Sports Club in the Final Cricket encounter of the clubs while Kilinochchi Maha Vidyalaya and Ramanadapuram Maha Vidyala Netball teams vied in the finals.
Cricket championship in the school category went to the Kilinochchi Central College Cricket team and the Pudiyasooriyan Sports Club won the Championship in the Club sector. Victory in the final Netball tussle was clinched by Kilinochchi Maha Vidyalaya Netball players.
The arrangement, seen as one more attempt of the Security Forces to rebuild bridges between the civil populace and the Security Forces, received immense public support during the entire course of the tournament.
