Troops of the 562 Brigade on the instructions of the Commander, Security Forces - Wanni, Major General Hemantha Bandara and General Officer Commanding, 56 Division, Major General Nandana Dunuwila, launched several disinfection programmers in and around public places in Vavuniya on 11 March 2021 in order to suppress the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
Accordingly, the troops of the 562 Brigade under the supervision of the Commander, 562 Brigade, Brigadier Senaka Premawansa sterilized public places such as bus stands, welfare centers, state and private banks, market places, public assembly points and three wheeler parks, etc in Vavuniya town area.
17 (V) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops carried out these disinfection campaigns with the assistance of Vauniya Public Health Inspectors, and urban councils of respective areas.
Meanwhile, 17 (v) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops of the 562 Brigade organized a ‘Shamadana’ and cleaning programme for healthy environment in Wannankulam Rankovil areas in on 10 March 2021.
