Officers and soldiers in the 561 Brigade HQ under the 56 Division of the Security Force HQ-Wanni, aware of the economic hardships of people living around the 561 Brigade HQ area, voluntarily offered their financial support for purchase of essential dry rations to 30 low-income group families in Kanagarayakulam area.
The project saw those dry ration packs, each worth Rs 8000, consisted of essential items, such as dhal, rice, milk powder, noodles, chilly, etc delivered to those beneficiaries as one of their civil-military cooperation arrangements.
The General Officer Commanding, 56 Division, Major General Saman Liyanage and the Commander, 561 Brigade, Brigadier Priyanga Kulathilake gave their blessings to the project.
The Commanding Officers of 16 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and 17 (v) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Officers and Other Ranks joined the distribution of those relief packs by visiting their doorsteps.
