In a Community development project, 552 Brigade of Iyakkachchi distributed 2000 high quality jack plants among the civilians in the Pachchilaippalli area on 12th February to encourage them in home gardening.
Meanwhile, 50 butter fruit plants and 100 dragon fruit plants were also distributed among some families. These plants are grown as a pilot project in the area. Arrangements will be made to expand the cultivation depending on the success of the pilot project.
Lions Clubs of Pannnipitiya and Homagama joined the Army providing plants to make this programme a success
Commander 552 Brigade Colonel W.P.D. Wanniarachchi, Former President of the 306 C 02 District Lions’ Club Lion K.D.K. Wijenayake, President of Homagama Lions’ Club Lion Pradeep Hatanarachchi, President of Pannipitiya Lions’ Club Lion P. Malagala, Lion R. Kaluarachchi, Lion D. Elvitigala and Principal of Pulopallai Roman Catholic Tamil Mixed school Mr. Vadivelu Jeevaratnam were present on the occasion organized to hand over those plants.
