54 Division Headquarters of the Army in Mannar under the Security Force Headquarters – Wanni (SFHQ-W) on request provided all possible assistance for conduct of the reception ceremony of the newly-appointed Bishop of Mannar Diocese, His Lordship, Dr Emmanual Fernando on Saturday (30) at Mannar Bishop House premises.
Members of the clergies, headed by Archbishop of Colombo, His Eminence Cardinal Malcom Ranjith Peiris, Major General Kumudu Perera, Commander, SF-W, distinguished invitees, senior tri-service and Police officers, members of the Church and a large gathering were there to welcome the new Bishop on his arrival in Mannar.
Major General Athula Galagamage, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 54 Division, responding positively to a request made by the clergy at the Mannar Bishop House assisted preparations of the reception premises and decorations, etc before the event in close coordination with Rev Fr Victor Sosai, the Vicar General of the Mannar Bishop House.
With the blessings of Major General Kumudu Perera, Commander, Security Forces – Wanni (SF-W), Major General Athula Galagamage, GOC, 54 Division visited the premises and had discussions with the clergy over the arrangements that needed to be in place before the reception got underway on Saturday (30).
Archbishop of Colombo, His Eminence Cardinal Malcom Ranjith Peiris graced the event in Mannar as the Chief Guest for the formal reception in the Bishop House.
A large group of clergies, devotees, invitees and civilians took part in the welcome ceremony of the new Bishop of Mannar.
