Troops of the 522 Brigade of the 52 Division of the Security Force Headquarters -Jaffna in line with the 72nd anniversary of the Army launched community welfare projects at Mirusuvil and Ketpeli areas on the instructions of the General Officer Commanding, 52 Division, Major General Chandana Wickramasinghe during 10 -11 October.
Accordingly, 7 (V) Battalion of the Gajaba Regiment (GR) presented stationery items for the students and gift packs for the staff at Holy Family Children's Home in Mirusuvil and this gesture followed the provision of a delicious lunch treat for all the residents in the Holy Family Children's Home.
Meanwhile, troops of the 7 (V) Battalion of the Gajaba Regiment donated dry ration packs to low-income group families in Ketpeli area.
The programme saw a total of 25 deserving families in Ketpeli area receive Rs. 1500 worth dry ration packs, each under the arrangement. The relief packs consisted of essential commodities such as rice, dhal, sugar, potatoes and onions, etc.
The Commander 522 Brigade, Colonel S.A Hettige, together with the Commanding Officer 7 (V) GR graced the ceremonies as the chief guest in the company of several senior officers in respective areas, adhering to health guidelines.
