Officers and Other Ranks of the 5 (V) Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) of the 222 Brigade under the 22 Division of the Security Force HQ - East considering economic hardships of a family with several children in Seenipura, Kantale took a stock of dry rations and organized the award of financial assistance for all three children in the family.
On Friday (15), a representative group of Army personnel gifted the family with dry rations, like rice, dhal, dry fish, spices, cereals, grains, milk powder packets, etc and school accessories and clothes after their pathetic plight was observed by the Officers and Other Ranks of 5(V) Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) serving the area.
Apart from the school accessories, those three children of the family are to be provided Rs 7500.00 (each child Rs 2500.00) on a monthly basis until they complete their GCE (O/L) examinations.
This programme was effected on the instructions of Major General Sanath Aluvihare, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 22 Division and under the supervision of the Commander, 222 Brigade, Brigadier Nadeeka Kulasekara.
222 Brigade Commander, Commanding Officer of 5 (V) SLA, Civil Affairs Officer, 222 Brigade, Officers and Other Ranks of 5 (V) SLA participated in the donation programme.
