More than 3500 students from several schools in Puthukkuddiyirippu area, Mullaittivu received exercise books and educational accessories during a recent ceremony at Puthukkuddiyirippu Madya Maha Vidyalaya, Puthukkuddiyirippu.
Hon Namal Rajapaksa, Member of Parliament as the Chief Guest attended the distribution ceremony. Lighting of the traditional oil lamp after the Chief Guest was welcomed by Major General L.B.R Mark, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT), marked the beginning of the day’s ceremony.
These community development projects launched on the instructions of Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Secretary Defence and Urban Development are aimed at enhancing educational standards of those children while helping to raise their living standards.
General Officer Commanding, 68 Division, 681, 682 and 683 Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Principals, teachers, parents and the beneficiaries participated in the project.
On the same occasion, the Chief Guest gave away some gift parcels to principals and tutorial staff members in those schools.
