9 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment troops of the 573 Brigade under the 57 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu on account of the New Year and Christmas season gave away dry ration packs, each worth about Rs 1500/= to 32 deserving families at Batrathi Puram Shantha Sebastian Church compound in Mullaittivu on Friday (31).
Those dry ration packs and gifts, sponsored by an overseas-based Sri Lankan expatriate were made available to Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe, Commander, Security Forces – Mullaittivu through his personal coordination.
In addition gift parcels were also shared among children in the area by Santa Claus around the same time thanks to the same sponsorship.
The project was launched on the guidelines given by Major General G.R.R.P Jayawardana, GOC 57 Division.
Commander 573 Brigade, Colonel S.B.R. Prasanna and the Commanding Officer, 9 VIR troops joined the distribution programme.
