23 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) troops of the 642 Brigade of the 64 Division of the Security Force Headquarters- Mullaittivu with sponsorship, provided by a Senior Officer, domiciled abroad have laid the corner-stone for construction of a new house for a needy daughter and her family in the general area of Ampakamam in Manawalapaddamurippu on 19 February 2022.
The troops showing that the “Army with a Heart” is prepared to address their genuine grievances launched this community-related programme following the sponsorship of Major General (Retd) R Rathnasinham after the miserable plight of the deserving schoolgirl studying at Karipaddimurippu Tamil mixed school was brought to the notice of the sponsor as advised by the school principal.
Major General Upul Werakoon, General Officer Commanding, 65 Division graced the occasion as the chief guest and laid the cornerstone for its construction at Ampakamam. The commanding officer of the 3 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, senior officers, officers and other ranks participated in the occasion adhering to health guidelines.
