Brigadier Nalin Koswatte assumed office as the 24th General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 23 Division HQ in Poonani on Wednesday (20) during a simple ceremony.
In accordance with military traditions, Brigadier Nalin Koswatte reviewed the Guard Turnout on his arrival after he was welcomed by the Colonel General Staff of the 23 Division.
The newly – appointed GOC planted a sapling in the Division HQ premises and afterwards he symbolically signed an official document to signify the acceptance of the new appointment amid religious observances.
He succeeds Major General Champaka Ranasinghe, who has now been appointed the General Officer Commanding in 58 Division.
