A two-day religious campaign on account of the year’s final Unduvap Poya Day took place at Sri Vijayangaramaya at 22 Division Headquarters at Trincomalee with the participation of more than 1500 civilians, tri-service and Police personnel.
On Friday (9), Venerable Thalagala Sumanarathana Thero, Incumbent, Thalagala Monastery and Adhikarana Sanghanayaka delivered a sermon that spoke of proper conduct of life after a Bodhi Pooja Pinkama. Over 1500 Army, Navy, Air Force, Civil Defence Service and Police personnel attended the Dhamma sermon ceremony at night.
On the following day (10), as part of the temple’s routine programme, more than 300 officers and other ranks serving the 22 Division observed ‘Sil’ and attended a series of merit invoking observances. Ven Thalagala Sumanarathana Thero, Ven Dehiowita Piyatissa Thero and Ven Bathalagoda Abeytissa Thero contributed to the conduct of the day’s programme.
As one more segment of the day’s itinerary, an interesting lecture on ‘Trincomalee and its ancestral importance’ delivered by well-known writer, Kantale G.L Sirisena, attracted the attention of all those who were attending the day’s ceremonies.
