211 Brigade with Sponsor Support Builds New House to Widow & Family

The sponsorship coordination, done by the 211 Brigade of the 21 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni enabled one more deserving mother with two children to receive a new house, erected in the general area of Kudawewa, Medawachchiya on Wednesday (27).

At the request of Brigadier Chaminda Wijayarathna, Commander, 211 Brigade, the Medical Consultant, Dr (Mrs) Ranjani Senevirathna at the Colombo National Hospital and Mr Thilak Alahakoon, an Engineer and Businessman, spent Rs 1.5 m for construction of this new home for the needy family. The project received blessings of the Commander, SF-Wanni and the 21 Division’s General Officer Commanding.

2 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) troops of the 211 Brigade using their engineering and technical skills built this new house within a matter of few weeks after the miserable plight of this family was brought to the notice of the 211 Brigade Commander who in turn turned to the donors.

The beneficiary, Mrs H.A Indrani Somalatha, a widow and her two children received the keys from the donors in the presence of the 211 Brigade Commander during the simple warming ceremony where the recipient’s relatives, donors and several officers and other ranks who built the house were present.

Several pieces of furniture and household items were also gifted to the family on the same occasion by the Army as incentives.
