Wanni-based 211 Brigade under the Security Force Headquarters-Wanni (SFHQ-W) in Vavuniya marked its 29th Anniversary recently with a series of commemorative events, including religious ceremonies.
Lighting of the traditional oil lamp, all rank tea table and lunch treat and ‘Bodhi Pooja’ dominated the first day’s programme.
211 Brigade Commander, Senior Officers, Civil Coordination Officers and Other ranks attended the occasions.
Following day (10), troops serving 211 Brigade with the financial support of Kelaniya Rotary Club, distributed 125 pairs of spectacles, worth about Rs. 375,000/= among civilians at Parana Hallmillawewa area during a simple ceremony at Sri Jayawickramarama Temple.
Ven. Periyaulukkukulame Sunanda Thera, Chief Incumbent Parana Hallmillawewa Sri Jayawickramarama Temple, 211 Brigade Commander and villagers joined the event.
