19 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) troops serving 55 Division in Jaffna, expanding their community roles further, have come forward to build a new house for a low-income group family in Mulliyan Grama Seva Division after their plight was brought to the notice of Army troops serving there.
The house, meant for the family of Ms Ravichandran Wijeyakumari is to be built by 19 SLNG troops themselves after seeking generous assistance from south-based donors.
The cornerstone for the construction was laid recently during a simple ceremony, headed by 19 SLNG Commanding Officer, together with members of the recipient family.
