A well-attended 'Shramadana' community project, jointly carried out by the Galle Fort-based 14 (Volunteer) Gemunu Watch troops, officials and employees of Galle Municipal Council and Kadawath Sathara Divisional Secretariat got underway on 18 January inside the historic Galle Fort and its surroundings considering its value as a very attractive tourist destination.
The cleaning project was launched to coincide with the silver anniversary of the 14 (V) GW troops who are stationed inside the Galle Fort.
Major General Swarna Bhothota, General Officer Commanding, 61 Division and Brigadier Upul Kodithuwakku, 613 Brigade Commander, gave necessary instructions to this effect to the Commanding Officer of the 14 (V) GW to carry out the task.
