As a result of drone reconnaissance, 20 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops of the 121 Brigade Saturday evening (03) raided a Cannabis (Ganja) cultivation in the general area of Gonagan Ara, Weheragala reserve, Kataragama.
On the guidelines given by Major General Prasanna Ranawaka, General Officer Commanding, 12 Division, Colonel Udaya Serasinghe, Commander 121 Brigade closely monitored the clearing operation.
The illegal crop cultivation, grown in about one acre of land has been done secretly inside jungle areas to the value of about Rs 5m. Policemen & Wildlife officers also visited the location after its detection was intimated to them.
