Following a conceptual guidance given by General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, 11 Division troops of the Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-Cen) actively contributed to the completion of partly-built houses of the needy people in the general area of Rangalawatta, Peruwatta Division in Teldeniya.
Mr Sri Mohana Shankar, a renowned philanthropist cum donor in the area came forward to sponsor the cost of raw-materials of those 19 partly-built houses which have remained incomplete and unattended due to economic hardships of the occupants of those incomplete houses.
Major General Samantha Silva, Commander, Security Forces - Central, in accordance with the ‘Way Forward Strategy 2020 - 2025’ deployed 111 and 112 Brigade troops for the construction work in this housing complex who completed the job within a few weeks.
On Tuesday (24), a simple ceremony, headed by the donor, Mr Sri Mohana Shankar and 111 Brigade Commander, Brigadier Rohitha Rathnayake and 112 Brigade Commander, Colonel Chandima Kumarasinghe formally vested those completed houses in the legitimate owners.
Members of the Army who technically assisted the completion of the project, house occupants and villagers took part in the brief ceremony.
