Prior to the commencement of the forthcoming Kandy Esala Perahera season, troops of the 11 Division under command to the Security Force Headquarters Central (SFHQ-C) carried out a ‘Shramadana’ campaign, together with members of the general public in Kandy town area to get rid of garbage and clear the areas on Monday (21).
Instructed by 11 Division General Officer Commanding, the troops cleared surroundings, near the Temple of the Tooth, Gedige Temple and the Getambe Temple. Major General A. M. Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters, has given his support to the move.
Governor of the Central Province, Mr. Tikiri Kobbekaduwa, Chief Minister for Central Province, Mr. Sarath Ekanayake, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 11 Division and the Senior Superintendent of the Police (SSP), Kandy Division were associated with arrangements.
