As of this morning (9), a total of 344 more persons were confirmed positive to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. 10 Sri Lankan expatriates and 334 of those positive cases are locally-identified ones, including the majority 65 from Gampaha district, 54 from Colombo district, 47 from Galle district and 168 others from different districts, states the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).
By this morning (9), a total of 86,038 persons, inclusive of 82,269 of the fish market and Minuwangoda Brandix cluster have been confirmed positive to COVID-19 from all over the country, including the dead. 82,512 fully-recovered COVID-19 patients have been so far discharged from hospitals and the rest 3,019 are still under treatment in hospitals and care centers.
In the past 24 hours, 454 recovered patients have left hospitals and care centres. Five more death have been reported from Anuradhapura, Hemmathagama, Colombo 6, Dharga Town and Ja-Ela areas in the past 24 hours. Accordingly, the COVID-19 death toll in the country rose to 507 by this morning (9).
