Both Officers and Other Ranks of the 1 Corps Headquarters at Iranamadu, Kilinochchi on their own distributed free dry ration packets among 100 needy families in the general area of Iranamadu, Kilinochchi to coincide with the Thrice Blessed Vesak Day (15).
All Officers and Other Ranks of all formations under the 1 Corps HQ on the guidelines given by Major General Crishantha Gnanaratne, Commander, 1 Corps HQ, contributed in various capacities to the success of the event, in which those dry ration packets, each worth about Rs 2500/= were distributed to their doorsteps by the troops.
The ‘Army with a Heart’ in parallel with the ‘Army Way Forward Strategy 2020 - 2025’ of the Commander of the Army launched this programme in order to commemorate the importance of the Vesak Day.
Brigadier Administration and Quartering, 1 Corps, Brigadier Asela Amarasekara, Colonel General Staff, Colonel Kaminda Silva, Senior Staff Officers, Officers and Other Ranks joined the distribution of those dry ration packets to the beneficiaries after visiting them.
