A sum of Rs 15 million, raised through the recent annual ‘Dinner Dance’ of the Army was presented to the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake during a ceremony at Mount Lavinia Hotel on Friday (8) evening.
Funds thus handed over are to be used for the completion of the construction work still underway at Pangolla ‘Abimansala’ project, meant for dependent War Heroes of the North Western Province in Wayamba.
Major General E.P. De Z. Abeysekara, Deputy Chief of Staff on behalf of the Organizing Committee of the ‘Dinner Dance’ handed over the cheque to the Commander during the ceremony.
Funds were collected through entrance tickets to the event and across various raffle draws held during the event.
