  • Kilinochchi Routine Admin. Review Continued for 4 Days

  • 110 New SLSR Recruits Pass Out at Ambepussa

     
    One hundred and ten new recruits of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) Headquarters at Ambepussa during a military parade passed out on Tuesday (5) upon successful completion of their six-month long training. Colonel of the SLSR Regiment and Commander, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, Major General D. R. A. B. Jayatillake, Commandant, SLSR Headquarters, Brigadier A. M. R. Dharmasiri and Lieutenant Colonel U. D. Wijesekara, Staff Officer I at Directorate of Staff Duties graced the occasion as distinguished guests.
     
  • Ministry of Defence Hands Over New Vehicles to the Army & the Police


    Fulfilling a long-felt acute need of vehicles in the Army and the Police, Ministry of Defence and Urban Development under a special Pakistan Loan Scheme, was successful in getting a fleet of 100 new Toyota cars for use of official purposes in both organizations, thanks to initiatives, taken by Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Secretary Defence and Urban Development.


  • 233 Brigade Conducts 'Shramadana' at Vakarai


    The Civil Affairs Office of the 233 Brigade conducted a ‘Shramadana’ campaign at the Vakarai Maha Vidyalaya premises on 06 February 2015. 25 members of the 233 Brigade along with 50 school children participated in the community project. The objective of this campaign was to clean the playground of the school which was covered with wild bushes and garbage.

  • Army to Turn Manik Farm Area to an Orchard & Cultivation Zone

     
    Displaying its full compliance with the national tree planting campaign, ‘Deyata Sevana’, the Army on Friday (16) undertook another mega cultivation project at Settikulam Manik Farm in Vavuniya after planting more than 1000 fruit saplings of hybrid nature. A 10- acre extent of less fertile land in the former ‘Relief Village’ area taken over by the Army.....
     
  • Army Tattoo Continues to Draw Spectators in Thousands; Navy Commander, the Chief Guest of its Third Day

    THE Army Tattoo continued for its third successive day on Monday (19) at Kettarama with attendance of the Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Thisara Samarasinghe as Chief Guest. Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya received the Chief Guest who hoisted the National flag prior to opening the tattoo. The Army Commandos had to however postpone their para jump, the first and most expected event of the audience to the next day due to adverse weather conditions.

  • New Dental Unit at Vavuniya Field Hospital Opened

     
    Major General A.K.S Perera, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) recently declared opened a new dental unit at Vavuniya Field Hospital for the use of officers and soldiers serving the SFHQ-W. The Army run field hospital remained without a dental unit plus X-ray facilities for a long time, compelling them to either seek assistance from Anuradhapura or elsewhere.
