  • One More 130 mm LTTE Artillery Gun Caught

    MULLAITTIVU: TROOPS continued their offensives against LTTE terrorists in PUTHUKKUDIYIRUPPU east and north of MULLAITTIVE town areas causing heavy losses among the terrorists on Thursday (2). During search operations that followed confrontations, troops recovered one 130 mm artillery gun, five T-56 weapons, one Multi Purpose Machine Gun (MPMG), one I-com set, one Mitsubishi single cab and one motor bicycle from those areas. 

  • Ministry of Defence Hands Over New Vehicles to the Army & the Police

    Fulfilling a long-felt acute need of vehicles in the Army and the Police, Ministry of Defence and Urban Development under a special Pakistan Loan Scheme, was successful in getting a fleet of 100 new Toyota cars for use of official purposes in both organizations, thanks to initiatives, taken by Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Secretary Defence and Urban Development.

  • 233 Brigade Conducts 'Shramadana' at Vakarai

    The Civil Affairs Office of the 233 Brigade conducted a ‘Shramadana’ campaign at the Vakarai Maha Vidyalaya premises on 06 February 2015. 25 members of the 233 Brigade along with 50 school children participated in the community project. The objective of this campaign was to clean the playground of the school which was covered with wild bushes and garbage.

Upon arrival at Chuklala, Pakistan's Air Force Base, the visiting Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, together with his delegation, was warmly received by a senior General in the Pakistan Army.

    THE US Congress delegation said they saw the standards of relief villages where the Internally Displaced are accommodated are good and impressive, and of a much higher standard than described by some media.They said so, after meeting President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees yesterday.
