Army Kabbadi Team Wins Once Again
The Sri Lanka Army Kabbadi team for the third consecutive time beating its rivals in the Navy clinched the Championship Trophy during the tournament at St Peter’s Indoor Stadium, Colombo 4 on 17th September.The tournament, began on Thursday (16) was competed by teams from the Sri Lanka Army, Navy and Air Force and the final tussle got underway Friday (17) evening amidst a host of distinguished visitors. The victorious Army team, showing its skills beat the rivals for 25 - 23 after a tough fight.

A sixteen-member military delegation from India’s prestigious National Defence College (NDC), led by Major General Anjan Mukherjee called on Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya Monday (20) morning at Army Headquarters. Major General Anjan Mukherjee, Head of the delegation, accompanied by Air Commodore Sanjay Bhutani met the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya and shared views on several matters.....
US Embassy Centre for Civil-Military Relations (CCMR) recently conducted a training course on Civil-Military Relations for the Civil Affairs Officers of the Sri Lanka Armed Forces. The course at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel Colombo was attended by 20 Military Officers including 9 Army Officers. The lectures conducted by a panel of US lecturers including US Army personnel taught student officers various aspects of Civil-Military Relations.
The newly-built archway (Vahalkada) at Swarnamali Viharaya in Thelawala, Angulana was declared opened by Secretary Defence Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa amidst beating of ‘Magul Bera’ and ‘Hevisi’ Monday (20) afternoon. More than 1000 War Heroes, who sacrificed their legs and limbs in the fight against recently concluded War for Peace are to showcase their multiple sport talents in the Sri Lanka Army Para Games 2010 tournament, declared inaugurated by Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya Thursday (23) morning at Colombo Army Headquarters ground. Those differently able War Heroes in their colourful sport attire representing thirteen regiments paraded the ground tracks to a thundering applause before they assembled in front of the main pavilion for the proceedings to get off the ground.
The refurbished Community Centre at Ampakamam Village was officially declared open by the Commander Security Forces Killinochchi Major General Chandana Rajaguru recently. Security Forces Headquarters Killinochchi (SF HQ - KLN) allocated funds for the refurbishment of this building which was in a ramshackle state due to the thirty year prolonged war.
Troops and Demining groups in North, East and South recovered fifty four T-56 weapons, seven T-81 weapons, four M-16 weapons and five pistols during the period from 16th August 2010 to 15th September 2010. Out of these, twenty one T-56 weapons were recovered from Vellimullivaikkal area on 29th August. Further forty four Claymore mines, three hundred and fifty eight RPG bombs, Eight hundred and six 60/81/82 mm Mortar bombs, 3743 rounds of 12.7 mm ammunition, 10110 rounds of MPMG ammunition.....
