Sri Lanka Army Taekwondo players won the Championship for the ninth consecutive year in the Army history in National Taekwondo Championship held at Sugathadasa stadium from 5 - 6 March 2012. The Army won nine Gold Medals, four Silver Medals and thirteen Bronze Medals from both men and women categories.

Sri Lanka Army Netballers emerged champions in the Inter-Club Open Netball Championship after 19 years beating Sri Lanka Air Force 11 : 8 and Sri Lanka Navy 12 : 7. The tournament was held at Ewariwatta Grounds, Katunayake recently (3 - 4 March). Captain WBN Weerakkody of the Army team was adjudged the best player of the tournament.
‘Vijayabahu Motorcross - 2012’, the sporting pride of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) got underway at Boyagane VIR Headquarters complex tracks on Sunday (11) to a packed crowd of more than 25000 - 30000 sport enthusiasts and motor racing fans.
