More than 200 troops are engaged in extinguishing bush fires that erupt intermittently in Habarana forest reserve these days due to prolonged drought after the first fire was reported from Habarana near the 121 km post on July (24). A team of 125 undergraduates of the University of Peradeniya came to Mullaittivu area on a tour received Army support and facilitation on Monday (28). Under the coordination of 64 and 68 Division Headquarters, those touring undergraduates visited sacred temples, captured arms and ammunition, submarine stations of LTTE terrorists, Mullaittivu War Hero memorial and other places of interest.

The swimming event in the forthcoming Army Para Games - 2014, held at Panagoda Swimming Pool Complex on Wednesday (30) made Gajaba Regiment (GR) competitors to claim the championship in the tournament. Categorized on the percentage of the disability, these competitors vied in the 50 m & 100 m free style and 4 x 50 m swimming. GR swimmers scored 146 marks against 137 marks, recorded by Gemunu Watch (GW) swimmers who were adjudged the runners-up.
