  • 62 Division Organizes Alms Giving for 50 Monks and Offers Lunch for 575, Including Pregnant Mothers


    Troops of 62 Division of the Security Force Headquarters-Wanni (SFHQ-W) took part in offer of alms to 50 monks and provided a delicious lunch to 75 pregnant mothers and 500 villagers at the 622 Brigade Headquarters premises on Saturday (26). Mr. Ranjith Rathnayake and Mrs. Seetha Nishshanka from Sadalankawa gave financial assistance to this event at the request of the Commander, 622 Brigade.
  • Mullaittivu Troops Conduct Seminar for Grade 5 Students


    On the directions of Major General Jagath Dias, Commander, Security Force Headquarters, Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT), troops of the 59 Division, under command to SFHQ-MLT, conducted a seminar for Grade 5 students sitting the scholarship examination, together with Sampath Bank PLC and Neth FM at Vidyananda College, Mullaittivu on Saturday (26). More than 900 Grade 5 students participated in the project.
  • Aluthgama Reconstruction & Repairs Work in Full Swing


    Members of the Army, now engaged in reconstruction and restoration work in Aluthgama, in the aftermath of recent violent acts, have performed impressively well  and are about to complete the assignment in a couple of weeks, Major General U.A.B Medawela, Commander, Security Force Headquarters, West (SFHQ-W) told a media briefing at Aluthgama on Wednesday (30).
  • Eastern Troops Provide Water Bottles to Drought - hit Villages


    Eastern troops provided five liters water bottles to drought - hit villages in Kuduthulawa, Jayasirigama, Viharagama and Nelumwewa at Medirigiriya Divisional Secretariat area. On the initiatives of Major General Lal Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters East (SFHQ-E), Brigadier Rohitha Dharmasiri, General Officer Commanding, 22 Division under command to SFHQ-E supplied these relief stocks.
  • Army Provides Assistance to Centenary Celebration of St. James Church


    Army facilitated access to more than 500 devotees who attended the centenary celebrations of St. James Church, located Palaly South close to the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ -J)  on Sunday (27). On the Request of Rev. Fr. Anton Bala, St. Joseph’s Church, Atchuvely Major General Udaya Perera, Commander, SFHQ-J facilitated the conduct of celebration.
  • Army Cricket Captain Represents Sri Lanka 'A' Team Touring UK


    Lance Corporal  Asela Gunarathna, the Captain of Army Cricket Team, has been selected to represent Sri Lanka’s ‘A’ Team currently touring the United Kingdom. He became qualified to be the Sri Lanka ‘A’ team by scoring 615 runs and taking 10 wickets as the all rounder in the last Premier League Tournament. He is the third cricketer to represent Sri Lanka’s team after Lieutenant Ajantha Mendis and Staff Sergeant Sekkuge Prasanna of the Sri Lanka Army. Lance Corporal Asela Gunarathna has already been selected to the 15- member squad in the forthcoming Asian Games to be held in South Korea.
  • Commando Combat Shooters Carry Championship


    Commando shooters recorded an impressive victory in the Inter Regiment Combat Fringe Meet- 2014, organized by Sri Lanka Army Small Arms Association at the Diyatalawa 1000m Firing Range and carried away the Championship. The near two-week tournament was competed by many regiments. Beating all rivals, Commando shooters emerged victorious.

  • SFHQ-E Organizes HRM Training Programme for Officers


    Security Force Headquarters East (SFHQ-E) organized a Human Resource Management Training Programme, together with the support of the Human Resource Center and the University of Colombo, for officers who are serving under the SFHQ-E area during July 24-25. This two day training programme was conducted on the directions of Major General Lal Perera, Commander, (SFHQ-E).
  • Commander Opens 'Colour House' & PWV Memorial at VIR Headquarters



    Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) Headquarters at Boyagane, Kurunegala extended a warm welcome to the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake on Thursday (31) when he called at the Headquarters for the first time after assumption of office as the Commander. Colonel of the Regiment, VIR Major General Jagath Dias who is also the Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu warmly received the visiting Commander.....
     
  • Army Begins Production of its own Furniture & Rejuvenates its Musical & Aesthetic Values, Shifting to a Spacious Location


    Trying to bring the elegant craftsmanship, inherent among Army tradesmen to the fore, the Army is to venture on the production of their own furniture on a large scale, following a notion suggested by the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake after having assessed the colossal expenditure, incurred in the purchase of furniture to the Army on a regular basis.
