Third Segment of Lebanon Bound 9th Army Contingent Leaves on UN Peace Keeping
The third segment of the 9th Sri Lanka Army contingent for the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) left Sri Lanka to assume duties as troops of the Force Protection in Lebanon Wednesday (25) evening. The group consists of 80 Army personnel (four officers and seventy six other rankers). The Sri Lanka’s Force Protection Unit (9 SLFPU), is comprised of 10 officers and 140 other rankers in total and has been made up with the troops from Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (76).....

A simple ceremony to distribute school amenities among 38 students of low-income families attending Kevil Government’s Mixed School in Pokkarappu area, was held on Wednesday (25) morning at the school premises. Each student was provided with a gift parcel, worth around Rs 1600/=. Moreover, each teacher was also presented with an umbrella to symbolically admire the great service they are rendering.
