Army Sponsored 'Nandimithra Gama' Vested in Displaced Families in Wanni
The new ‘Nandimithra Gama’ Housing Complex, crafted and funded by all Regiments, formations and brought to the successful completion by troops of the Security Force Headquarters – Wanni (SFHQ-W) with the expertise of Engineer Services Regiment (ESR), saw its inaugural opening Wednesday (18) morning during a simple ceremony, presided by Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army whose conceptual initiatives, made its realization within a few months.
President Maithripala Sirisena in his capacity as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces has confirmed overdue promoted ranks of Major General for three senior Brigadiers and the promotion of five more Brigadiers to the temporary ranks of Major General, effective from 30 December 2014.
The second phase of the spoken Tamil Language Course, organized by the Security Force Headquarters-Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) in order to improve Tamil language proficiency among military personnel serving the SFHQ-KLN, concluded on 18 February 2015 at the Advanced Infantry Platoon Training (AIPT) School, Bharathipuram.
The newly-promoted Major General D.D.U.K Hettiarachchi, General Officer Commanding, 23 Division was presented with military honours at the 23 Division Headquarters, Punani after his arrival upon receipt of his promotion. A section of the students at Alagapuri Primary School and Carita Convent at Ramanadhapuram on Monday (16) received incentives for education, following coordination done by both 572 Brigade Headquarters and 12 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) troops serving the area.

The outgoing Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake who formally retired from the Army on Saturday (21) has been promoted to the rank of four star General effective from today by the President Maithripala Sirisena in his capacity. General Daya Ratnayake who enlisted to the Army on 6 February 1980 in the Intake No 13 and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 18 July 1981, boasts a distinguished.....
