The Military Public Information Office of the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) in a special announcement, issued on Feb 5 condoles on the sudden demise of Warrant Officer II, A.P.S Pushpakumara RSP USP on January 29 following a cardiac arrest while serving Haiti. “Our peacekeeping military family has lost a valuable member of the team and wishes to extend our most heartfelt condolences to the family of Warrant Officer Pushpakumara,”

Troops of the 22 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR), 8 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) and 27 SLNG recently organized several“Shramadana” campaigns to clean the Serunuwara Hospital premises and assisted reconstruction of the road in Sandiweli area. At the same time, troops of the 27 SLNG distributed lunch packets for the inmates at the Ichchalanpaththu Hospital in Trincomalee area on Tuesday(03).
Non-Commissioned Officers’ Training School (NCOTS) at Kalaoya offered their assistance to two families, affected by recent floods in Kalaoya area. The NCOTS gave a packet of dry-rations separately to both families. Troops of the NCOTS together with other military establishments continuously supported rescue and relief operations during the floods.
