Army Exhibition Site Welcomes Commander-in-Chief's Visit

Temporary homes, built by Army troops for resettlement of 139 families in Navarathnapuram, Sampoor were vested in those people on Sunday (24) during a ceremony. District Secretary for Trincomalee Major General (Retd) T.T.R de Silva after cutting a ribbon and following house warming rites and rituals in several representative units, handed over those houses to the re-settlers.
2nd Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry (2 SLLI) troops serving the 55 Division Headquarters in Jaffna pocketed out their own money to buy school bags, books, shoes, water filters, sports items and other equipment for students at Kaddaikadu Roman Catholic Tamil Mixed School to the value of Rs 165,000.
“All ranks in the Army and their next of kin will shortly have unlimited access to best medical facilities under a specially-designed Medical Insurance Scheme, through which all ranks and their next of kin, could obtain medical consultations, from the private sector as well after proper arrangements, made through military hospitals,” so pledged Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander of the Army during his visit to the East on Thursday (28).

Troops of the 231 Brigade of 23 Division distributed a stock of school accessories among 200 students at Mangalagama school in Eravur Paththu on Sunday (18). 231 Brigade troops on the instructions of its Commander sponsored the distribution in consultation with relevant Gramaseva officials.
